Hey!
I really want to say thanks for reading my last post. I put it out there, very unorganized, and yet I'm getting e-mails about it on all aspects of the spectrum. I really appreciate it. No matter where you stand, you boosted my faith. I think what I want to do is turn those sentiments into a blog post to address them, cause they are all really good! Plus, I need to keep thinking about this if I want to have the guts in a few months to do this with Lovely. I have so many fears, doubts, and worries....and that is how I feel most days lol - not just on homeschooling. HAHA! I need to know where I stand, despite how much I love and value the traditional system.
That said, I thought in honor of all these ideas on homeschooling, I'd post my Friday Five with links to either bloggers or specific posts that give me some inspiration, challenged me, or gave me thought into this way of learning and life, along with "IRL" (in real life) support! These bloggers home school for MANY different reasons, backgrounds, & goals and each gives food for thought and great ideas! So, with no further adieu:
1. Jennifer at Conversion Diary lays out some great questions for people thinking about homeschooling. She addresses a LOT of areas of concern for ANY wannabe homeschooler and their philosophy or angle, and let her commentors give their insight to address the big concerns listed. All areas, reasons, and ideas welcomed!
2 Kate at Momopoly is starting to homeschool preK this year, and blogs about her vision, worries, and inspiration on her site. She spells out why she knows this is the right direction for her family, and the many inspirations and routes to get her family on that journey (she has some great comments too, one that talks about affording educations vs the flexibility at home. I could have written that response).
3. Melanie at Otherwise Educating is also just getting started in this new frontier. She has some fantastic thoughts and great ideas on what this journey means for their family. She writes candidly, shares pictures, and much more. She has a funny video here (and thoughts too).
4. Links that I have found helpful are: Why We Homeschool, an article by Sarah Reinhard about taking the plunge, About Homeschooling, The K12 program, Montessori, Suzuki, Montessori based Good Shepherd, Classical learning (links on Kate's blog).
5. And S ALWAYS inspires me!!
I'm sure I'm lagging in more areas, but this is what I've stumbled on, or always known. This is what speaks to me, so of course has my own personal bias - but food for thought is good for anyone. I'm always ready to learn of more sites, blogs, and friends who also do this (love ya Kris! You need a blog) who have wisdom to share! I am so thankful for the support and ideas. Much love!! Many blessings!
TGIF!!!!
