A Father's Love

What made the Super Bowl for me when I don't normally care?

I'll tell you two ways:

1) Post Katrina New Orleans NEEDED and DESERVED this. Such spirit!!!! Loved that!!!

2) These images of the Brees. I got choked up looking at it on the TV live as it happened. I was glad to find the images online here. What a moment for a father and his tiny son. Maybe I got teary cause I'm pregnant, or maybe because I have seen the same look my husband give my girls at big moments in his life - when they are all he sees no matter what else is happening.

Pretty amazing, huh? Drew's eyes just got me...

I was trying to remember what Drew Brees' pic reminded me of from our past, and I dug these up from 2004. Here is Hubby in the hospital recovering from one of the treatments and major surgeries he needed and seeing baby Lovely for the first time in days. His face and eyes said much the same:

Whether it is the 44th Superbowl, or the "Superbowl moments" of life - there is NOTHING like a father's love for his children. Nothing. Thank God for unconditional love.

Our Super Bowl Food!

So, I'm jumping on this late. I was not sure what we'd do this evening as I hosted a Tupperware party today which I knew would tire me out, and a stomach virus is making the tour of all our local friends (and I'm paranoid of catching it - if I am not a carrier already), so that put another friend's Superbowl viewing party in jeopardy (it did get canceled because of germs lol). Wow - that was a long run on sentence!

Anyhoo! GEAUX SAINTS!!!

We still are currently enjoying some Superbowl fare! I made a few items for my Tupperware party (aptly called "TupperBowl 2010" lol) that we then carried over to the viewing of the game now. So without further adieu:

Cool Veggie Pizza (a Pampered Chef fav of mine!)

  • 1 (10 ounce) can refrigerated crescent roll dough (you can get the lowfat kind!)
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened (to save on calories, use lowfat or fat free)
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (you can also use light)
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
  • all types of chopped veggies - mushrooms, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, onion, zucchini...etc - You can pick your toppings!!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  1. In a lightly greased 9x13 inch pan or 13 inch round pizza stone, arrange the crescent roll dough in a single layer. Pinch together the edges of the dough. Bake for 12 minutes, or until it becomes a golden brown crust. Remove the crust from the oven and allow it to cool.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the cream cheese, mayonnaise and dill. Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture on the crust. Sprinkle toppings on top of the cream cheese spread. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the spread to thicken.
  3. Cut the chilled pizza into wedges or squares with a pizza cutter to serve.
It's always a favorite when I make it!!!!!

Queso Dip (I like to call this Michelle D's Famous EASY Dip!)

1 jar of your favorite brand of queso dip (or homemade can be great!)
1/2 cup of your favorite salsa - DRAINED (homemade or store brand)
1 can refried beans
1/4 cup sour cream (you can go lowfat here).

Heat up...stir together....serve on whole grain chips....YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SCORE!! So easy, its a crime!

And, that is dinner tonight as we watch the commercials (er...GAME). Can't wait to peruse the other yummy recipes I'm seeing...

To check out other recipes...go HERE - these things look good ANYTIME!!!! Especially those potatoes and brie stuffed mushrooms.....YUM!!!! The comment section has even more!!!!
