A Rosey Outlook on Life

a glimpse into the things that make or break my outlook on life. Most importantly, my faith, family and friends, the ramblings of my brain, the desires of my heart, and the sound track of my soul.

About Me

ViolinMama: I'm a wife to Hubby and mama to our 8 year old daughter "Lovely", our almost 4 year old daughter "Valiant", two year old "Gift" and one precious soul in heaven. I've coded their names based on their meanings and I think it fits them all. I love time with my family and friends, faith, music, the violin, taking pictures, being in nature, reading, learning, counting my blessings, and blogging. God is Good, Jesus is in my heart, and I got a pocket full o' sunshine...and yes, I'm spelling "Rosey" with the "e"!

Loving Life

A blessed day...

Reflection of Joy not being Happiness:

"I had thought joy to be rather synonymous with happiness, but it seems now to be far less vulnerable than happiness. Joy seems to be a part of an unconditional will to live, not holding back because life may not meet our preferences and expectations. Joy seems to be a function of the willingness to accept the whole, and to show up to meet with whatever is there. It has a kind of invincibility that attachment to any particular outcome would deny us. Rather than the warrior who fights toward a specific outcome and therefore is haunted by the specter of failure and disappointment, it is the lover drunk with the opportunity to love despite the possibility of love, the player for whom playing has become more important than winning or losing.

"The willingness to win or lose moves us out of an adversarial relationship to life and into a powerful kind of openness. From such a position, we can make a greater commitment to life. Not only pleasant life, or comfortable life, or our idea of life, but all life. Joy seems more closely related to aliveness than to happiness." ~ Rachel Naomi Remen

Pondering Joy vs. Happiness:

“What if I just let go of that? What if I trust that even if I die tomorrow or next month or next year, things will somehow work out? What if I allow myself to put the outcome in God’s hands and just live intensely in the present, absorbing and embracing life as it happens? It’s not indifference or admitting defeat; it’s seeing the bigger picture.” ~ Emilie Lemmons

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with GENTLENESS and RESPECT.
- 1 Peter 3:15

Don't frown because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.
- SinVyeSt Tan

Better is a dry crust of bread in peace than a feast full of strife.
- Proverbs 17:1

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
- Walt Emerson

Love is the golden thread that ties hearts and souls together.
- Blessed Mother Teresa

You may only be someone in the world, but to someone else, you may be the world.
- Unknown

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
- Reinhold Niebuhr

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.
- Eleanor Roosevelt

Freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought.
— Pope John Paul II

Come to the edge.
We might fall.
Come to the edge.
It's too high!
Come to the edge!
And they came,
and he pushed,
and they flew.
-- Christopher Logue

One who has hope lives differently.

- Pope Benedict XVI

Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier...
- Blessed Mother Teresa

What does it matter that we stumble on the way, if we find in the pain of our fall the energy to pick ourselves up and go on with renewed vigor? Don't forget that the saint is not the person who never falls, but rather the one who never fails to get up again, humbly and with a holy stubbornness.
- St. Josemaria Escriva
