Well, this is a day late and it is because I could not find what I was looking for, but this picture is a close second.
Here I am around 7 - 8 years old. Christmas time. I love this pic - mostly because of the necklace around my neck. You ask - "Why, that old rope and metal washer? What type of necklace is that??!!"
Well, that was not a rope and washer to me! It was my gold "sun medallion" that I wore proudly everywhere living out my adventures from the below TV show - The Mysterious Cities of Gold. Did anyone else watch this show? Watch the You Tube clip of the opening song.
See the necklaces the boy and girl are wearing? That was what I pretended my necklace to be, and I constantly pretended I was the girl, Zia. These medallions opened the secret gates to the Cities of Gold, lol.
And....here I am....pretending I'm Zia, off on GREAT adventures, even at a Christmas party. I love the imagination of childhood!! I think I never took that necklace off for months! I was in constant imaginative play from this show for a LONG time.
Such great memories!

I LOVED that show!!!!!! I think we're about the same age and I can remember desperately wanting to have a medallion necklace. That show was awesome! I also liked a show called Belle and Sebastian because they ate bread just like they did in The Mysterious Cities of Gold. (I loved eating rolls when I was a kid so shows where they ate rolls got my attention.)
ReplyDeleteKaren!! So cool! And I know what you are talking about! I loved the rolls of both shows (I LOVED Belle and Sebastian) and I remember loving the sounds of the kids feet on the stony ground (both shows). I used to pretend my feet made the same sounds....
ReplyDeleteGosh, what a golden childhood! I'm glad someone else remembers these shows! AWESOME!
Did you ever watch Spartacus? HA!
ReplyDeleteI must have lived in a hole as a child - I never heard of that show! I loved Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, and Nickelodeon. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was on Nickelodeon :)
ReplyDeleteVery sweet photo of you! I've never heard of the show either, but when you said it was on Nickelodeon, that was why. My parents didn't get cable until I was a junior or senior in high school.
ReplyDeleteI don't know that show, but you're darn cute!
