Nothing like sharing the feeling of thanksgiving...
I was preparing to go with the girls to my mom's when J calls. I could tell something was wrong when I heard her voice, and she was calling from the children's hospital. My Goddaughter E had a febrile seizure because of a quick spiking fever. I've read about these in all the baby/toddler books, yet have never seen one in my kids or heard about them with any of our family and friends - till now. How scary. She seized about 1 minute, and J was home alone and called 911. Her husband arrived home as they were loading E into the ambulance to get her checked out as a precaution - and both said having to ride with your child, and follow the ambulance with your child, is the worst thing ever as a parent and hard to hold yourself together for. I can't imagine. I was heartsick when J called me.
Thankfully, she checked out fine, it appears she's getting another ear infection which is the reason for the fever (so she could be getting ear tubes because she ALWAYS gets ear infections) and her fever came down fast in the hospital and she seemed "back to normal" and all happy and bubbly in her baby self. I checked in with them again this afternoon and E was still happy, back to normal, and all them home safe though EXHAUSTED (E, not so much. She wants to PLAY lol - yeah!).
So, GRATEFUL is the word of the day. I just ached so much for them all though. I'm so thankful everyone is home and fine once again!!!
Valiant and Lovely will be so happy :) Val especially...she loves E so much!

So true, so true. On the flip side; a friend of mine went through the whole febrile seizures thing several times with her daughter and she is now a happy, healthy middle-schooler who almost never gets sick! So, hope for your friend :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad everything (and everyone) is okay! How scary!
ReplyDeleteOh, how scary for J&S! I'm glad he got home in time to go with them though. And most importantly, I'm glad E is fine!
