Small Successes "Start of Lent 2011" Edition

FaithButton

I almost forgot about this today!! Maybe I can make the rounds and read other ones. I could use some uplifting reading as part of my "Small Steps" assignments and the Lenten Meditations.

I'm still sick (doc appt. tomorrow - another sinus infection), so this will be short and sweet!

1. We've managed to homeschool this week despite me being sick. We did take off yesterday - Lovely's 1st official sick day of the school year - because she had a low fever and was super tired.  She slept most of yesterday. Today she is much better and we just finished schooling for the day. I LOVE our schedule!

2. I am aiming to journal more about this here at some point, but I have in the past month and week started to work on my emotional health. Since Gift has been born (and my blues lasted longer after him, but faded) my always present anxiety issues have grown past where I had viewed them as "tolerable." My anxiety simply was growing more and more, and I wanted to do something about it before it got worse. So, I'm working through things outside of my past prayer and meditations. I just got started, so I look forward to the fruit of figuring out my hormones and internal monologue. I hope to touch on this more soon - but already a weight I hadn't noticed was on my shoulders has started lifting.

3. While sick, I've been doing what I can around the house - some folding, some cleaning, and straightening with the kids help  - so I'll take that as a success too lol!!

How has your week been? Blessed Lent to you!

Thankful Thursday
This week I'm thankful for...

1. naps.
2. breath right strips

3. Lent.
4. my husband.
5. my kids.
6. my family.
7. my friends.
8. prayer.

Take care!!!

  1. Despite being sick, you've had some great successes this week! Congrats on going this long before Lovely's first sick day of the school year. Another great benefit to homeschooling is that we're exposed to fewer germs!

    Feel better soon!

  3. Aren't breathe-right strips the best! I have stopped having sinus issues as bad since my third was born, but allergies are kicking my butt this week! Hence my weenie-sounding small successes :). Feel better and I will offer prayers to Sts Monica, Felicity and Perpetua in regards to #2, I have also suffered anxiety and Social Anxiety Disorder, so I understand this pretty well. Let me know if you need anything...even if I'm not on fb, my email is on there, message anytime!

  4. OK, first off, your children are beautiful!

Secondly, thank you SO much for your sweet, sweet comments on my Lenten post. I'm learning as I go. Aren't we all?!!

Get well soon, and congrats on a great week! I'll say a little prayer for you.

    Blessings!

  5. Great week! Good job making time to work through anxiety issues. You have to take care of that stuff first.

Good job homeschooling through sickness. That cant be easy.

    Your kiddos are so cute:)

  6. I'm praying for you on the anxiety issues. I know how that goes. Suddenly we can realise just how they are affecting us, after a time with them more in the background. It's great that you can recognise that you need to put more coping strategies in place. I look forward to reading about your journey. And a blessed Lent to you, too.

  7. I LOVE the picture of you guys in the header!

For anxiety ... might I suggest St Dymphna? I'm shooting for a novena to her during Lent for my anxiety issues as well.
