Ok - war is declared...on my NOSE.
I need all the tips and holistic procedures anyone can send me on sinus health. I have chronic sinus issues, that NORMALLY I can keep at bay using my beloved neti pot, steam (either in shower OR ever heard of getting a baby diaper, wetting it, then microwaving it a few seconds to put on face to both relieve pressure AND breathe steam? AWESOME idea!), and peppermint & eucalyptus.
It isn't working.
Pregnancy is aggravating my sinuses.
I had a sinus infection about a week ago. I had to take antibiotics for a week. I've been off them a week and all the signs are starting to return. There is still hope - hence my desire to attack this head on before drugs are needed. Seriously...I don't need antibiotics when preggo, and I don't want to develop resistance! I had all these issues (plus resistance) when pregnant with Valiant too. UGH!
Please send me help, ideas, and yes, prayers. I get really whiny when my sinuses act up. Who needs whiny?
Stuffily and Plugged,
Yours Truly

I don't think I can offer you anything new!! Sinus rinse (neti pot, etc. - I use NeilMed Sinus Rinse from CVS) The Sinus Rinse is a squeeze bottle that forces the saline straight up in there - it comes with packets and everything. I think it's more effective then the Neti Pot, but that's just me. Cool Mist humidifier and put about 1/4 cup of white vinegar in the water before you start it. That will help. Sudafed, which you can take when you are pregnant. Just remember that pregnancy swells your nasal passages anyway. Aggrevates both sinuses and allergies. The things we Mommys suffer......! :)
ReplyDeleteI had the same problems towards the end of my pregnancies. The only relief I could get was to smear Vicks Vapor Rub up my nose. Yeah. I know you're not supposed to do that-- it even says it right on the package! But it made me able to breathe enough to sleep at night, so...
ReplyDeleteThank you Kris....and it is so worth the sufferings!!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes...I totally agree E. L. F - I do that vapor rub all. the. time. I'm glad I'm not alone!!!
Much love!
What we used to do in Switzerland is almost boil a small pot of water and then put the Eucalyptus oil in it. Then you carefully lean over it with a towel over your head and bread in the steam through your nose and out your mouth. Just make sure the steam doesn't burn your faec at first while it's still hot.
